Colourful winter moorland land and cloudscape. The bright, dying light is breaking through layered snow clouds and falling snow showers and tinting the Calderdale countryside with mauve and lilac shadows. The remnants of last year’s grass and clumps of dead heather poke sadly through the thin layer of snow and make a patchwork quilt effect in the foreground. Stoodley Pike is just visible on the distant hills opposite.
Painted in my studio from a photo taken by me high up on Wadsworth Moor on a beautiful February day.
Colours: white, lilac, raspberry, tangerine, purple.
Painted with Sennelier and Michael Harding oils on a pre-stretched, gesso primed Belle Arti canvas panel.
