Janet's Foss (Etching)

Hand-editioned etching of my interpretation of the iconic waterfall and pool in Malhamdale. Well-known to wild swimmers and anyone walking through the woods from Malham village up towards Gordale Scar, this is a special place with a magical atmosphere. The waterfall sometimes slows to a trickle but thunders after heavy rain. Janet's Foss is named after the Queen of the fairies. My etching shows the waterfall and also the deep pool underneath it, with the sparkling burn rushing away to the right. The deep fissures in the rock hold shadow. The surrounding vegetation is pared back to winter sparseness. My focus for this piece was very much the water and rock.
